Rosemary Rogene Butler
Lewistown- Rosemary Rogene Butler, 89, of McPherson, KS; and formerly of Lewistown, passed away Saturday November 28, 2015 at McPherson, KS.
She was born January 3, 1926 at Ipava, IL; the daughter of John and Alma Grace (Warner) Holmes. She married Clifford Butler on February 14, 1953 at Lewistown. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1980. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Rodger and John (Jack) Holmes, one sister, Louise Wilson, and in-laws, Will and Ruth Butler. Survivors include one son, Vic (Denise) Butler of McPherson, KS; one daughter, Joni (Steve Boeke) Butler of Rochester, MN; sister in-law, Margaret Holmes, grandson, Nicholas (Angie) Butler, granddaughter, Amanda (Matt) Gregory, step grandchildren, Simon and Holly Pequeno, Clay and Jen Winter, and Garritt McConnell, twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Rosemary graduated from VIT High School and attended Brown Business College in Peoria, IL. She worked at the Ipava State Bank, Farm Bureau, Berean Book Store, sold Avon, and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Lewistown where she taught the “Little Lamb” Sunday school class for 40 years and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. She loved to travel going to Israel, Hawaii, and the Bahamas.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the First Baptist Church in Lewistown, where visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM. Burial will be in McNeil Cemetery at rural Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Lewistown, Grace Baptist Church in Havana, Kings Highway Baptist Church in McPherson, or the Humane Society.
