Zelta K. Joachim

Bartonville- Zelta K. Joachim, 87, formerly of Bartonville, passed away at 9:39 PM Wednesday July 15, 2015 at Grandview Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Peoria where she was a resident.

She was born January 9, 1928 at Smithfield the daughter of Vernon and Mary (Wilhelm) Hart. She married Dawson W. Joachim on September 1, 1948 at East Peoria. He died August 31, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, and two brothers. Surviving are one son, David (Rhonda Wolfe) Joachim of Peoria, one daughter, Kathy (Jay) Schauwecker of Rockwall, TX; two grandchildren, Jennifer Back of Rockwall, TX; and Andrew (Leigh) Schauwecker of Temecula, CA; and seven great grandchildren.

Zelta was an administrative assistant and had worked for Toledo Scales, Limestone High School, Commercial Bank, and Peoria School of Medicine. She was a member of the Bartonville United Methodist Church where she served as secretary for the administrative council as well as visiting shut ins.  Zelta enjoyed reading, walking, and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday July 20th at the Bartonville United Methodist Church with Pastor Nick Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Baughman Cemetery at rural Smithfield at 1:15 PM Monday. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Bartonville United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
