Lloyd R. Kemper Jr.

Lloyd R. Kemper Jr., 68, of Canton, Illinois, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at his residence surrounded by love.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, at Shields Chapel Cemetery, Canton, Illinois. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society.

Lloyd Raymond Kemper Jr. was born March 29, 1957, in Canton, Illinois, the son of Lloyd and Louise (Walters) Kemper Sr. He worked at Sears for many years before working at Kemper’s Construction.

He loved being outdoors and fishing. He could always be found either out at his camper or at home sitting under his notorious bass fish lights. His camper became his second home, where he enjoyed taking golf cart rides and spending time with family. He also had a love for dachshund dogs.

Lloyd is survived by his son, Lloyd "Sonny" Kemper III; siblings, Kimberly (Martin) Brown and Marla (Donnie) Foulk; brother-in-law, Norman Chadwick; nieces, Angela (Tim) Cain, Stacey (Kylor) Fesler, and Jillian (Kevin) Chadwick-Fisher; nephews, Gary (Rachael) Brown, Jory (Kelsey) Chadwick, Scott (Erica) Brown, Keith Foulk, Jared (Angie) Chadwick, and Ryan Foulk; and many aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his beloved children, Amy, Misty, and Joseph Kemper; his parents; his sister, Jennifer Kemper-Chadwick; and his nephew, Aaron Foulk.

Lloyd will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, love of the outdoors, and deep devotion to his family and pets. His memory will live on in every cast line, every sunset at the camper, and every heart he touched.

Marcia L Swinford

Marcia L Swinford, 73, of Springfield, passed away July 14, 2025 in Decatur. A service to

celebrate her life will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, in Havana, IL on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Havana.
Marcia was born March 16, 1952 to Wade (Butch) and Mary Jane Swinford of Havana. She
graduated from Havana High School. She was employed for over 33 years at the Secretary of
State of Illinois. She loved her family, friends, Christmas, good food and shopping.
Surviving are her brothers, Jim of Morton and Troy (Patti) of Decatur; nephews, Brad of
Chicago, Mike of Brentwood, TN, Scott of Decatur; nieces, Janie Dellinger of West Columbia,
South Carolina, Bridget Widmaier of Polkton, North Carolina, Morgan(Ryan), Anna and Brooke
of Chicago, and eight great nieces and nephews.
Marcia was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Karna Klein, Sister-in-law Linda Swinford
and Brother-in-law John Klein.

Estelle “Geri” Grigsby

Estelle “Geri” Grigsby, 79 of Canton, passed away at 5:07 AM on Monday, July 14, 2025 at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born on March 7, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA, to James and Anna (Eulitz) Martin. She married Ken Grigsby on October 19, 1968 in Somers Point, NJ. He survives.


She is also survived by one daughter, Regina Grigsby Rogers; three grandchildren, Miranda (Dustin Himmel) Grigsby, Gage Rogers, and Riddock Rogers; three great-grandchildren, Liam Dockins, Ronan Himmel, and Ezra Himmel.


She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steven Grigsby whom passed in 1995; one sister, Pat Dellarso; and beloved dog, Riley.


Geri worked and retired from Graham Hospital as a certified surgical technologist for 30 years. Geri enjoyed spending winters in Florida and family trips to Minnesota. Geri was one of a kind, the kind of person you never forget. 


Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025 at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton, IL. Deacon Curtis Theyse will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded through Sedgwick Funeral Homes & Crematory in Canton, IL. Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Humane Society. Steven Allen Vance

Steven A. Vance, 56, of Ipava, IL, passed away at 4:08 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Graham Hospital in Canton, IL. He was born on May 6, 1969 in Rushville, IL, the son of Don and Nancy (Umphryes) Vance. Steven married Tabatha “Sam” Scott on January 1, 1996 in Corinth, MS and were married for 29 plus years. She survives.


Also surviving is his daughter; Nichole (and Josh) Miller of Bernadotte, IL, four sons; Jonathon (and Ashley) Vance of Table Grove, IL, Danny (and Kailey) Vance of Nashville, IL, Jeremy (and Tanya) Scott of Hurst, TX and Justin (and AJ) Scott of Rushville, eleven grandchildren; Katie Miller, Keagan Miller, Hayden Vance, Dexter Vance, Emerie Vance, Elsey Vance, Jayden Scott, Kaylee (and Keenan) Langham, Laikynn Scott, Rexi Scott and Rowyn Scott, mother; Nancy (and Larry Hall) Umphreys-Hayes of Vermont, IL, sister; Shannon (and Jim) Jones of Vermont, step-mother; Connie Vance of Macomb, IL, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Steven is preceded in death by his dad; Don Vance, step-father; Steve Kinne, brother; Michele Vance, and grandparents.

He was a professional driver and drove over three and a half million miles thru his career.

He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion and was in charge of making the baked beans for the yearly Bernadotte Park fish fry.

Steven enjoyed fishing, cooking or grilling, and spending time with family. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. Steven also enjoyed attending church at The Crossing in Macomb.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Nick Sash will officiate. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery immediately following the celebration of life. A meal will be held at the Ipava Legion following the graveside service. Memorials may be made to the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #17 or the Bernadotte Park.

Lavina Shirley Wright

Lavina Shirley Wright, 88, of Manito, passed away at her home at 4:00 a.m., on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born January 12, 1937, near Bemidji, Minnesota, on the Red Lake Indian Reservation, to Ole and Laura (Johnson) Lene. She married Raymond Charles Wright on Aprl 26, 1969. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2002.

Mrs. Wright is survived by two sons: Raymond (Charlene) Wright II, of Manito, and Damon Kenny of Bradenton, Florida; three grandchildren: April Wright, Raymond Wright III, and Breanna Pack; five great-grandchildren: Ariel Thompson, Leonidas Thompson, Paisley Pack, Mia Pack, and Remington Pack; as well as one sister, Barbara Quirk, of Gray Eagle, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and eight siblings: Leroy Lene, Judy White, Glady Walker, Shirley Linberg, Kenny Lene, Bonnie Ross, Lorraine Smith, and Archie Lene.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Spring Lake Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
